UP DOWN EXT is an outdoor metal staircase designed for frequent use, whether it connects a terrace, technical roof or secondary entrance. Its galvanised or powder-coated steel structure withstands bad weather and heavy loads, offering a reliable access route for residential buildings, apartment blocks, office projects and industrial sites.

A made-to-measure solution for façades and escape routes

Fully custom-built, UP DOWN EXT can be configured as a straight flight, turning staircase, or layout with intermediate landings and arrival platforms. The choice between galvanised or powder-coated finish makes it easy to coordinate the staircase with the façade. It is perfectly suited as an external fire escape staircase as well as a main outdoor access when interior space is limited.

Steel structure, galvanised or powder-coated

At the core of UP DOWN EXT lies a robust hot-dip galvanised steel structure. This treatment offers long-term protection against corrosion, even on exposed façades. Where a more refined look is desired, the staircase can be powder-coated in a chosen colour, either to blend in with the building or to create a clear architectural feature on the outside.

Fire escape and everyday access in one

UP DOWN EXT has been engineered to function both as a fire escape staircase and as a comfortable outdoor stair for day-to-day use. The strong stringers are dimensioned to handle significant loads and can be sized according to the expected number of users. This makes the model suitable for single-family homes, multi-unit housing, offices, schools or workshops that need a dependable external escape route.

Comfortable treads and high level of safety

The anti-slip metal treads provide secure footing in all weather conditions. Riser height and tread depth are balanced to ensure a natural walking rhythm, even over several flights. UP DOWN EXT can be equipped with:

  • galvanised anti-slip steps with open pattern;

  • a stainless steel or powder-coated handrail;

  • matching balustrades on one or both sides.
    Together these elements create a safe, reassuring staircase users can rely on every day and in emergency situations.

Many configurations with landings and changes of direction

Thanks to its modular design, UP DOWN EXT can adapt to complex layouts: turning around corners, bridging height differences with intermediate landings or connecting to walkways and balconies. This flexibility is particularly valuable in narrow courtyards, dense urban plots or existing buildings where structural changes are difficult or costly.

Architectural integration for different building types

Whether installed on a new build or a renovation, UP DOWN EXT integrates naturally with other outdoor arrangements such as terraces, galleries and metal walkways.
