A multi-purpose interior staircase for all kinds of projects

The Grade Up staircase is Spira’s most versatile model. Its steel structure positioned under the treads gives excellent stability while keeping the sides visually open. This concept allows for straight stairs, stairs with landings or quarter-turn layouts, so you can use a single stair family throughout a home – from main access to more technical circulation – while keeping a consistent design language.

Light design that suits both compact rooms and large living areas

With its slim treads and under-slung steel structure, Grade Up remains visually light. It can stay discreet in a narrow volume or become a strong architectural feature in an open living room. By choosing warm wooden treads, all-steel treads or recycled synthetic (PVC) treads, the stair easily adjusts from a cosy look to a more industrial style, fitting both contemporary interiors and more classic refurbishments.

Why choose the GRADE UP staircase?

One stair model for almost any configuration

Designed as the most complete option in the range, Grade Up can cover a wide variety of layouts:

  • straight staircase,

  • staircase with landing,

  • quarter-turn or double quarter-turn configurations,

  • turning steps and walkways to span a void.

This versatility makes it a strong choice when you want one stair model that can answer different constraints within the same project: renovation, new construction, double-height spaces or more technical circulation routes.

Choice of wooden, steel or recycled treads

The Grade Up staircase accepts several tread materials so you can fine-tune both look and performance:

  • wooden treads for a warm, homely feel in a living room stair or hallway,

  • steel treads for a tougher, more industrial character,

  • recycled synthetic (PVC) treads where durability and easy maintenance are priorities.

This flexibility lets the same steel-and-wood staircase concept take on a different identity from one space to another, while maintaining a consistent structural principle.

Stair Treads and Finishes: All Our Options

Comfort, safety and ergonomic proportions

Grade Up is dimensioned for everyday comfort:

  • riser height between 170 and 200 mm,

  • going between 190 and 240 mm,

  • a 50 mm nosing to support the foot.

Handrails can use round or flat profiles, fixed laterally to the treads, with vertical balusters or horizontal bars in steel or stainless steel. Combined with the rigid structure, these options create a comfortable, secure staircase suitable for family homes and professional environments alike.

Steel structure beneath the treads for stability and openness

Grade Up is built around a steel plate structure (approx. 10 mm) cut to size and placed under the treads. This approach:

  • delivers high structural stability,

  • keeps the sides clear and lets light pass through,

  • can be reinforced or doubled for wider staircases.

By concentrating the structure under the treads, the staircase remains slim in elevation yet robust enough for intensive everyday use as a main interior staircase.
